Police in California have arrested the in-laws of a New York Times executive in connection with his fatal shooting.
The victim was identified as 40-year-old Jonathan McKinsey.
According to a BBC report on Tuesday, McKinsey was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in a parking area in Dublin, a city about 56 kilometres east of San Francisco, on Saturday afternoon. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police allege that McKinsey’s in-laws, 77-year-old Shouyong Zhang and 77-year-old Shili Chen, were involved in the killing. Both have been charged with first-degree murder and several other offences.
The New York Times also confirmed McKinsey’s death. He served as engineering director in the newspaper’s Games Player Experience department.
McKinsey’s body was found outside the Dublin Sports Grounds at around 3pm local time on Saturday. Witnesses said they heard several gunshots in quick succession before seeing him lying on the ground.
Witness Asad Rajavi said he saw the man collapse and noticed blood around his head and chest.
