KUSHTIA: A farmer discovered the body of an unidentified young man after seeing several foxes dragging at something hidden under straw beside a rural road in Daulatpur upazila of Kushtia on Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred around 6:15am beside a brick-paved road in the Kamalpur Satbil area of Piarpur Union.

The farmer, Sanaullah, was on his way to work in the fields when he noticed the foxes pulling at an object. As he approached, the animals fled and he discovered the body of the young man partially covered with grass and straw.

He raised the alarm, prompting other farmers working nearby to rush to the spot.

On being informed, police went to the scene and recovered the body. The identity of the deceased could not immediately be established.

Daulatpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Khaledur Rahman said the body appeared to be two to three days old. Some parts of the body, including the face, had been damaged.

A Criminal Investigation Department (CID) crime scene team from Jhenaidah was being brought to the spot to help identify the deceased and determine the circumstances surrounding his death, he said.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Bheramara Circle) Delwar Hossain said local people reported that the body had been pulled out from under the straw by foxes before it was discovered.

Police said efforts were underway to identify the deceased and determine the cause of death. Further legal action will be taken after the identity is established and the necessary investigation is completed.
