A 28-year-old man was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Rajbari town on Friday evening.
The deceased, identified as Piarul Sardar, was attacked near a shop beside a mosque in the Sajjan Kanda Madhyapara area at around 7:30pm, according to police and hospital sources.
He sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Rajbari Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. He had two bullet wounds to his chest.
Piarul was the son of Harun Sardar of Bara Muraripur village in Ramkantapur union under Rajbari Sadar upazila.
Police said 13 cases, including those involving arms, drugs, robbery and murder, had been filed against him.
The circumstances behind the killing and the identities of the attackers were not immediately known.
