Dhaka: A 21-year-old convicted female inmate, Rimpa, who escaped from Kashimpur Central Women’s Prison in Gazipur by scaling the prison’s boundary wall, has been arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-2) in the Hazaribagh area of the capital.
The information was confirmed late Sunday night by Major M. Mubin Rahman Taposh, Deputy Director (Media) of RAB-2.
According to him, acting on a tip-off, RAB-2 learned on Sunday that Rimpa, who had escaped from the prison on July 16 in a widely discussed incident, was hiding in Hazaribagh. A special operation was subsequently conducted in the afternoon, leading to her arrest.
Major Taposh said that Rimpa had been serving a three month jail in connection with a criminal case.
