Actor Shiba Shanu has been elected president of the Bangladesh Film Actors’ Association (Chalachitro Shilpi Samiti), while actor Joy Chowdhury won the post of general secretary for the 2026-2028 term.
The Election Commissioner officially announced the results at around 4:45 am on Saturday after the voting and vote counting were completed.
Shiba Shanu secured 243 votes to win the presidency, defeating fight director and actor Arman, who received 173 votes.
In the general secretary race, Joy Chowdhury won with 237 votes, while his nearest rival, actress Rumana Islam Mukti, received 179 votes.
The newly elected committee will lead the Bangladesh Film Actors’ Association for the next two years.
