Veteran Bangladeshi filmmaker FI Manik was seriously injured in a road accident in the capital on Monday (July 6) night.
The incident was confirmed by filmmaker Arpub Rana, who said Manik was returning to his residence in Niketan when the accident occurred between the Begunbari intersection and the Hatirjheel roundabout.
According to Rana, after crossing the Begunbari intersection and entering Niketan Road from the Hatirjheel roundabout, a speeding vehicle struck Manik from behind, throwing him onto the road and leaving him seriously injured.
“At first glance, it appears that Manik Bhai’s left arm has been fractured. He also sustained multiple injuries and bruises on different parts of his body,” Rana said.
He added that Manik was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital immediately after the accident for treatment.
Rana said the filmmaker’s full medical condition would be known only after doctors complete the necessary examinations. It will also be confirmed after diagnostic tests whether he has suffered fractures to any other parts of his body.
