A young Bangladeshi doctor, Dr Aditi Saha Anannya, was killed in a tragic road accident in Chicago, United States, just weeks after beginning a new chapter in her medical career.
Her untimely death has left her family, friends, classmates and the medical community in deep mourning.
Dr Anannya hailed from Sarail upazila in Brahmanbaria district and was the only daughter of Babul Saha.
She was a student of the 2014–15 academic session at Z H Sikder Women’s Medical College, where she completed her MBBS degree.
She recently moved to the United States with her husband and, after completing the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE), joined a local hospital as a physician.
Earlier, she completed her Secondary School Certificate (SSC) from Ideal School and College in Dhaka and her Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) from Cambrian College.
Through dedication, hard work and academic excellence, she built a promising career in medicine.
In July this year, Dr Anannya began her Internal Medicine residency in the United States, fulfilling a long-cherished dream.
However, only a short time after embarking on her residency, her life was cut short in the fatal road accident in Chicago.
News of her death has sparked an outpouring of grief among her classmates, colleagues and well-wishers both in Bangladesh and abroad.
Many have taken to social media to remember her as a talented, compassionate and dedicated physician whose promising future ended far too soon.
