The inaugural ceremony of Dhaka Club France was held in Paris on 26 July, with a commitment to promoting social harmony, unity, and mutual cooperation among Bangladeshi expatriates living in France.
The event took place at an elegant venue in the French capital, where the organisation’s 35-member full committee was officially announced. One of the club’s advisers and patrons, Sattar Ali Sumon Shah Alam, announced the committee members, with Rana Rahman elected as president and Kamal Ahmed as general secretary.
The programme began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthems of Bangladesh and France. The event was jointly hosted by General Secretary Kamal Ahmed, Joint General Secretary Wahiduzzaman Tipu, and S.K. Shamim.
In his welcome speech, Joint General Secretary S.K. Shamim highlighted the organisation’s activities since its establishment and outlined future plans. He also thanked guests, well-wishers, and members for attending the ceremony.
Advisers Shubhrat Shubho, Riyad Ahmed, Habibur Rahman Habib, Jitu Talukder, Mia Mostafa, Hannan Howlader, and other guests addressed the gathering. The club’s advisers were formally introduced and honoured with badges and ceremonial scarves.
The second part of the programme featured a cultural show, where popular Paris-based artists Mousumi Chakraborty and Nishita Barua, along with Bangladeshi singers Ilias, Upoma, and Arab Khan, performed music. Their performances created an enjoyable evening for the audience.
A large number of Bangladeshi expatriates living in France, leaders of social and cultural organisations, media representatives, and distinguished guests attended the event.
Patron Sattar Ali Sumon Shah Alam said Dhaka Club France is not just an organisation but a platform to strengthen friendship, solidarity, and cooperation among expatriate Bangladeshis.
He expressed hope that the club would contribute to the welfare of the expatriate community and promote Bangladesh’s positive image globally.
“Dhaka is the heart of Bangladesh. If Dhaka remains strong, Bangladesh will remain strong. Expatriate Dhaka residents should play a greater role in highlighting the country’s history and heritage internationally,” he said.
In his speech, President Rana Rahman said Dhaka Club France is a completely non-political social organisation. He added that people from all regions of Bangladesh would have the opportunity to become members, and the club’s main goal is to promote unity, harmony, and mutual support among expatriates beyond political and regional differences.
The newly formed committee includes representatives responsible for various departments, including vice presidents, joint secretaries, organisational affairs, finance, publicity, international relations, sports, information technology, culture, education, communication, and welfare activities.
