Bangladeshi shot dead in East London

A Bangladeshi man was shot dead by an unidentified assailant in East London in the early hours of Tuesday.

The victim was identified as Masum Ahmed, 49.

According to local sources, an unidentified person travelling in a car opened fire on Masum in the East Ham area around 3:30am local time before fleeing the scene.

Masum died at the scene. Police later identified him and informed his family of his death.

The Metropolitan Police have not yet issued an official statement on the incident.

Family sources said Masum was from Bishwanath town in Sylhet’s Bishwanath upazila, Bangladesh.

Police said further details would be released soon.
