Ahmadul Kobir, Kuala Lumpur: The 46th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal (JCD Volunteers’ Party) was celebrated in Malaysia on Sunday with a discussion meeting, cake-cutting ceremony and cultural programme organised by the Malaysia chapter of the organisation.
Dr SM Rahman Tanu, convener of the Malaysia chapter, chaired the programme, while Member Secretary Shamsul Alam Helal Sikder moderated it.
SM Jilani, president of the JCD Volunteers’ Party Central Executive Committee and a member of parliament from the Gopalganj-3 constituency, attended the event as the chief guest. Engineer Badlur Rahman Khan Badal, president of Malaysia BNP, was the principal speaker.
Mohammad Selim Hossain, international affairs secretary of the central executive committee of the JCD Volunteers’ Party, attended as a special guest. Mostafizur Rahman Zahin, assistant international affairs secretary of the central committee, and Rowshan Ara, president of the Gopalganj District Mohila Dal, were also present as special guests.
The programme began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by prayers and munajat led by Hafez Mohammad Ishfaq Hossain. Mosharraf Hossain (Hridoy), joint convener of the Malaysia chapter, delivered the welcome address.
Among the speakers were Talha Mahmud, vice-president of Malaysia BNP; Kazi Salauddin, joint general secretary; Mirza Salauddin, organising secretary; Jasim Uddin, president of Malaysia Jubo Dal; and Sheikh Asaduzzaman Masum, convener of JASAS Malaysia.
A number of senior Malaysia BNP leaders were also present, including Vice-Presidents Datu Abdul Jalil Liton and Sakhawat Hossain, Joint General Secretary SM Nipu, Office Secretary Aminul Islam Ratan and Sports Secretary Ariful Islam.
Malaysia Jubo Dal General Secretary Ramzan Ali, Senior Vice-President Nure Siddiqui Suman, Vice-President Sheikh Selim, Nazmul Hasan, Khalid Hasan Ripon, Senior Joint General Secretary Sultan Bin Siraj, Organising Secretary Russell Rana and Assistant Organising Secretary Saidur Rahman Babu also attended. JASAS Malaysia Member Secretary Imtiaz Abir was among the other guests.
Professor Mohammad Saifur Rahman, Shyampur Thana BNP Joint Convener Mohammad Mofizur Rahman Masum, Chowkit branch BNP Chief Adviser Mizanur Rahman Suman and Chhatra Dal leader Adib Anjum Arnab were also present, along with leaders of various Malaysia BNP branch committees.
Leaders of the Malaysia chapter of the JCD Volunteers’ Party also addressed the programme. They included Joint Conveners Golam Kabir, MM Mozammel Haque Pradhan, Mahfuzur Rahman, M Mahfuzur Rahman Sohel, Mohammad Sohel and Mizanur Rahman Mizu. Joint conveners Akhtaruzzaman, Mohiuddin Mohin and Akhtar Gazi also attended the event.
Leaders of subordinate branch committees who spoke at the programme included Mohammad Azizul Haque Wazed, convener of the Ipoh state chapter; Md Saiful Islam, convener of the Gombak chapter; Engineer Abdus Shukkur Mohammad Anik, convener of the Hang Tuah chapter; and Kamrul Hasan Kamal, member secretary of the Penang state chapter.
A large number of leaders and activists from different levels of the Malaysia chapter attended the anniversary programme.
The event concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony and a cultural programme. Leaders, activists and invited guests joined the celebrations marking the organisation’s 46th founding anniversary.
