Malaysia is set to reopen its labour market to Bangladeshi workers through a transparent recruitment process.

The Malaysian authorities have agreed in principle to recruit 10,000 workers at zero cost, including airfare and other migration expenses.

The first batch will be sent to Malaysia on special chartered flights through the government-run Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Limited (BOESL), according to the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment.

The move follows high-level discussions between Bangladesh and Malaysia aimed at resuming worker recruitment after a prolonged suspension.
