A Bangladeshi national was killed in a fire at a bicycle garage in Madrid, the capital of Spain.
The fire broke out on Sunday (August 30) at a garage near the Palos de la Frontera metro station in Madrid.
The deceased, Md Yousuf Hasan Alif, 26, was born in Dhaka and worked as a food delivery worker in Spain. His father’s name is Abdul Motalib. His body is currently being kept at a local hospital morgue.
According to local media reports, the fire suddenly broke out inside the bicycle garage and quickly spread.
Firefighters rushed to the scene and launched a rescue operation, but Yousuf could not be rescued alive after becoming trapped inside the garage.
A preliminary investigation suggests that the fire may have started due to an explosion involving the batteries of electric bicycles stored at the garage or an electrical short circuit.
Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire and whether any safety lapses contributed to the incident.
