Mahfuz Adnan from United States: The Barlakha Welfare Association of Michigan held the inauguration and oath-taking ceremony of its newly elected committee in a colourful and festive gathering attended by a large number of Bangladeshi expatriates.
The programme was held on Sunday, August 30, at Alif Restaurant in Warren City, Michigan, under the theme of unity, service and progress.
The অনুষ্ঠান began with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthems of Bangladesh and the United States.
Outgoing president Mujibur Rahman delivered the welcome address, while General Secretary Kamal Ahmed Pasha conducted the programme.
Advisory Council member Abdul Halim administered the oath of office to the newly elected president, Mahbub Ahmed Chowdhury Alal.
Members of the new committee for the 2026-2028 term subsequently took their oaths formally.

The newly elected leaders said the organisation would work to strengthen unity and harmony among people from Barlekha living in Michigan. They also pledged to introduce Bangladesh’s history, heritage and culture to the younger generation growing up abroad.
The leaders further expressed their commitment to standing beside underprivileged people in Bangladesh through various welfare initiatives.
Political, social and community leaders, along with a large number of Bangladeshi expatriates from different cities across Michigan, attended the event.
The gathering concluded with the welcoming of the new leadership with flowers and a dinner.
