Ismail Hossain Shapon, Italy: Bangladesh’s Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Abdul Awal Mintoo and Fisheries and Livestock State Minister Sultan Salahuddin Tuku were warmly received by leaders and activists of the BNP’s Italy chapter upon their arrival at Leonardo da Vinci International Airport in Rome on an official visit.
Bangladesh Ambassador to Italy ATM Rakibul Haque was also present at the airport reception.
The two ministers were greeted with flowers by BNP Italy leaders and activists and representatives of its affiliated and associate organisations.
Those present included former acting president of BNP Italy Aminur Rahman Salam, former elected president Shah Md Taifur Rahman Choton, former vice-presidents Sazzadul Kabir, Humayun Kabir and Moinul Alam Khokon, former senior joint general secretary Shah Md Touhid Kader and Kazi Abul Bashar, and former organising secretary Kamruzzaman Ratan.
Italy Jubo Dal President Zakir Hossain Gani and Senior Joint General Secretary Jahangir Alam were also present, along with leaders and activists of Rome Metropolitan BNP, Italy Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, Sramik Dal, Italy Mohila Dal, Zia Cyber Force Italy, Manikganj District Nationalist Forum and Brahmanbaria District Association.
At a brief discussion during the reception, BNP leaders wished State Minister Sultan Salahuddin Tuku success in his official visit.
They expressed hope that the government would play an important role in advancing Bangladesh’s development and progress, while stressing the importance of involving expatriate Bangladeshis in efforts to build a developed and prosperous country.
The leaders said Bangladeshis living abroad are making important contributions to the country’s economy and international image.
They also called for more effective government measures to address issues affecting expatriate Bangladeshis alongside the country’s broader development priorities.
Following the courtesy meeting and exchange of greetings at the airport, the minister and state minister were scheduled to join their official programmes in Italy.
