Two Bangladeshi nationals were killed in a fire that broke out at a multi-storey building in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday evening (October 6).

The deceased were identified as Mahiul Islam Palash and Obaidul Islam, both from Uttar Shimulia village in Dohar upazila of Dhaka. They had moved to Saudi Arabia several years ago in search of work.

According to local sources, the fire broke out at a building in the Tamanin Akher area of Jeddah.

The blaze quickly spread through different parts of the building, leaving Palash and Obaidul trapped inside.

Firefighters later reached the scene and brought the fire under control.

Their bodies have been kept at the morgue of a local hospital in Jeddah.

Arrangements are reportedly underway to bring the remains back to Bangladesh after completing the necessary formalities.
