The embassies of France and Switzerland in Dhaka have congratulated Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on his election as Bangladesh’s president.
The two diplomatic missions posted messages of congratulations on their respective verified Facebook pages on Thursday night.
The French Embassy extended its “sincere congratulations” to Fakhrul and acknowledged his longstanding contribution as a veteran politician to Bangladesh’s democratic journey. It also reaffirmed France’s commitment to further strengthening and deepening the longstanding friendship and bilateral ties between the two countries.
The Swiss Embassy also congratulated Fakhrul on his election and said Switzerland looks forward to continuing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations with Bangladesh as a longstanding partner.
Earlier, the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka and the British High Commission had also congratulated Fakhrul through posts on Facebook.
