The US Embassy in Riyadh has issued a security alert for American citizens in Saudi Arabia amid escalating tensions and tit-for-tat attacks between the United States and Iran in the Middle East.
In a statement posted on social media on Wednesday, September 2, the embassy said the overall security environment across the region had become highly complex due to the ongoing tensions, with the possibility of the conflict spreading unexpectedly at any time.
The embassy advised American citizens in Saudi Arabia and elsewhere in the Middle East to exercise the highest level of caution.
It also urged them to remain alert to possible flight cancellations, airspace closures and disruptions to transportation and travel arrangements.
