United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk has called for a strong and independent national institution to oversee Bangladesh’s law enforcement and security forces.
He made the call while addressing the 63rd session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva on Monday.
Türk stressed the need for effective oversight mechanisms to ensure accountability and safeguard human rights in the country.
He has also previously expressed concerns over the misuse of Bangladesh’s Digital Security Act, calling for a moratorium on its application and comprehensive reforms to bring the law in line with international human rights standards.
