Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Dr Shafiqur Rahman attended a reception hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka on Wednesday to mark the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
The reception was held at the Grand Ballroom of Hotel Sheraton in Dhaka, with diplomats from different countries, political figures, government and private-sector representatives and other invited guests in attendance.
During the event, Shafiqur Rahman conveyed greetings and congratulations to the Chinese government and people on the occasion of China’s National Day.
He also handed Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen a letter addressed to Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The letter conveyed greetings to Xi, the Chinese government and the Chinese people, while expressing hope that the longstanding friendship and mutual cooperation between Bangladesh and China would be further strengthened and expanded.
Shafiqur Rahman also exchanged greetings and views with diplomats and other invited guests at the reception.
Several senior Jamaat leaders attended the event, including Nayeb-e-Ameer ATM Azharul Islam, Assistant Secretary General ATM Masum, Rafiqul Islam Khan, Abdul Halim, Moazzem Hossain Helal and Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubayer.
