Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) President Kamran T. Rahman received Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider at the MCCI head office on Monday, with discussions focusing on expanding institutional and business ties between Bangladesh and Pakistan.

The two sides discussed developing institutional linkages between MCCI and regional chambers of commerce and industry in Pakistan, organising business-to-business (B2B) meetings and facilitating reciprocal participation in trade exhibitions.

They also explored avenues to increase bilateral trade in a range of sectors, including pharmaceuticals, fresh fruits and vegetables, jute, surgical goods and ceramics.

MCCI leaders appreciated Pakistan’s significant growth in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector and discussed possible cooperation in this area.

The meeting came amid renewed efforts by business organisations and the two countries to expand trade and commercial cooperation. Recent engagements have also focused on B2B activities and sector-specific collaboration between Bangladeshi and Pakistani businesses.

During the meeting, High Commissioner Imran Haider invited the MCCI president and its members to participate in FoodAg 2026, Pakistan’s international food and agriculture exhibition, scheduled to be held from November 23 to 26 at the Karachi Expo Centre.

FoodAg 2026 is expected to bring together more than 500 exhibitors and over 850 international buyers from more than 80 countries, providing a platform for trade, investment and business networking in the food and agriculture sectors.
