DHAKA, October 10: Bangladesh will stand by Saudi Arabia if the holy cities of Mecca and Medina come under attack, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir has said.

He made the remarks at a seminar titled “From Labour Force to Strategic Partnership: A New Dimension of Bangladesh-Saudi Arabia Relations” at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka on Saturday.

Kabir said Bangladesh sought to strengthen its economic and strategic ties with Saudi Arabia and wanted the kingdom to invest in Bangladesh.

He added that the government had created an investment-friendly environment for Saudi investors.

The state minister also expressed optimism that Bangladesh could strengthen its position in the Saudi labour market by sending more skilled and trained workers.

His remarks highlighted Bangladesh’s interest in deepening bilateral cooperation with Saudi Arabia in investment, employment and strategic relations.
