Half-day mourning in Bangladesh for former Qatari Emir

Bangladesh will observe a half-day state mourning on Thursday (July 16) over the death of former Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

The government also announced that a delegation led by the Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad will travel to Doha to convey Bangladesh’s solidarity and condolences to the Emir of Qatar, the royal family and the people of the Gulf nation.

Earlier, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman sent a condolence message to Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, expressing profound sorrow over the former emir’s death.

In the message, the prime minister extended heartfelt condolences on behalf of the government and people of Bangladesh, as well as personally, to the Emir, the royal family, the government and the people of Qatar.

Mentionable, former Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani died on Sunday.
