The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has announced another increase in gold prices in the country, raising the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 5,482 per bhori. With VAT included, the price of one bhori of 22-carat gold has been set at Tk 246,110.
BAJUS announced the new price in a notice on Saturday (August 22). The revised prices will take effect from 10am today.
According to the notice, the price of Tejabi gold (pure gold) has increased in the local market. Considering the overall market situation, BAJUS has revised gold prices, including VAT.
Under the new rates, one bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold will cost Tk 246,110, including VAT. Meanwhile, 21-carat gold has been priced at Tk 235,030 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk 201,846, and traditional-method gold at Tk 164,812 per bhori.
BAJUS said the new prices will remain effective at all jewellery shops until further notice. Labour charges will apply depending on the design of the jewellery. Since VAT is already included in the selling price of gold and silver jewellery, customers cannot be charged VAT separately. Previous BAJUS rules will remain in effect for jewellery exchanges and purchases, excluding applicable VAT, labour charges and stone costs.
Previously, BAJUS last adjusted gold prices on the morning of August 20. At that time, the price of 22-carat gold was increased by Tk 3,849 per bhori to Tk 240,628, including VAT.
On that occasion, 21-carat gold was priced at Tk 229,781 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk 197,355, and traditional-method gold at Tk 161,196. The prices took effect from 10am that day.
With Saturday’s adjustment, gold prices in Bangladesh have now been revised 106 times so far this year. Prices have been increased 54 times, reduced 51 times, and adjusted once due to VAT. In 2025, gold prices were adjusted 93 times, with 64 increases and 29 decreases.
Silver prices have also been increased alongside gold. The price of 22-carat silver has risen by Tk 175 per bhori to Tk 5,482, including VAT. The price of 21-carat silver has been set at Tk 5,249 per bhori, 18-carat silver at Tk 4,491, and traditional-method silver at Tk 3,383 per bhori.
So far this year, silver prices have been adjusted 63 times, with 33 increases and 30 decreases. In 2025, silver prices were adjusted 13 times, increasing on 10 occasions and decreasing three times.
