Major reshuffle at NBR

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has undergone a major reshuffle, with 36 officials holding the rank of additional tax commissioner in the BCS (Tax) cadre transferred and assigned to new posts.

The Internal Resources Division’s Tax Administration-1 branch issued a gazette notification on Sunday (August 30), signed by First Secretary Wakil Ahmed.

The transferred officials have been assigned to various tax zones and related offices across the country, including Dhaka, Chattogram, Jessore, Rangpur, Narayanganj, Pabna, Cumilla and other regions.

Among the key changes, Dipak Kumar Chakraborty was transferred from Appeal Range-1 of the Chattogram Tax Appeal Zone to Appeal Range-1 of Chattogram Tax Appeal Zone-02.

Mohammad Abdullah was moved from the post of Additional Director General of the Tax Inspection Directorate to Inspection Range-1 of Dhaka Tax Zone-11.

Mohammad Shahadat Hossain was transferred from Inspection Range-1 of Dhaka Tax Zone-22 to Inspection Range-1 of Dhaka Tax Zone-04, while Mohammad Moinul Hasan was moved from the NBR’s Income Tax Intelligence and Investigation Unit to Inspection Range-1 of Dhaka Tax Zone-01.

Ivana Afroze Sayeed was appointed Additional Director General of the Tax Inspection Directorate after being transferred from the Withholding Tax Management Unit.

Murad Ahmed was transferred from Inspection Range-1 of the Jashore Tax Zone to Inspection Range-1 of Dhaka Tax Zone-03, while Md Shahidul Islam was moved from Inspection Range-1 of Chattogram Tax Zone-03 to Inspection Range-1 of Chattogram Tax Zone-01.

Masudul Karim Bhuiyan was transferred from Inspection Range-1 of Dhaka Tax Zone-18 to Inspection Range-1 of Dhaka Tax Zone-02.

Other officials were also transferred to various positions at tax zones, appeal zones, the Income Tax Intelligence and Investigation Unit, the International Tax Unit, the Tax Inspection Directorate and the Withholding Tax Management Unit.

Notably, Ariful Haque was appointed First Secretary (Tax) at the NBR, while Md Enamul Kabir was appointed director of the Dhaka BCS (Tax) Academy.

The notification said that any additional charge previously held by another official at the newly assigned workplaces would be cancelled.

The transferred officials have been instructed to hand over their existing responsibilities and join their new workplaces immediately.

The order, issued in the public interest with approval from the competent authority, will take immediate effect.
