The Bangladesh Bank has instructed all relevant bank branches to remain open this Friday and Saturday to facilitate the collection of registration payments for the 2027 Hajj.
Banks have also been instructed to accept payments from Hajj pilgrims who are still present at the branches after the scheduled banking transaction hours have ended.
The Supervisory Data Management and Analytics Department (SDAD) of Bangladesh Bank sent the directive to the managing directors and chief executive officers of all banks on Wednesday, September 23.
According to the directive, the decision was taken following a request from the Ministry of Religious Affairs to facilitate the payment of registration fees for the 2027 Hajj.
Branches of banks authorised to collect Hajj payments will remain open according to their regular schedules on Friday and Saturday. In addition, they must continue accepting payments for as long as customers wishing to make Hajj payments remain at the branches after the scheduled banking hours.
Bangladesh Bank has also instructed banks to ensure adequate security arrangements during the extended payment period.
