Bangladesh’s garment exports to the UK rebounded strongly in August after a slight decline in July, rising 10.53 per cent year-on-year, according to data from the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB).

The growth helped push Bangladesh’s garment export earnings from the UK up 3.74 per cent in the first two months of the 2026-27 fiscal year.

Bangladesh exported garments worth $915.63 million to the UK during July-August, compared with $882.62 million in the same period of the previous fiscal year, an increase of $33.1 million.

Garment exports to the UK had declined 2.44% year-on-year in July before recovering with double-digit growth in August.

The monthly average garment export earnings from the UK stood at $457.82 million during the first two months of the current fiscal year.

In contrast, Bangladesh earned $4.39 billion from garment exports to the UK during the entire 2025-26 fiscal year, giving a monthly average of $365.71 million.

This means the monthly average during the first two months of the current fiscal year was nearly 25% higher than the average recorded in the previous fiscal year.

Bangladesh earned in just two months an amount equivalent to 20.86% of its total garment export earnings from the UK in the whole of 2025-26.

The EPB data showed that the double-digit growth in August helped sustain overall garment export growth in the UK market at the beginning of the new fiscal year.

The UK is one of Bangladesh’s major export destinations for ready-made garments. Continued growth in the market could therefore support the country’s overall garment export performance during the current fiscal year.
