All scheduled banks across Bangladesh will remain open on Saturday, October 17, in line with their regular banking hours, Bangladesh Bank has announced.
The decision was taken to adjust the holiday schedule for Durga Puja.
Banks will remain closed from October 20 to 22 for the religious festival, followed by the regular weekly holidays on October 23 and 24.
The central bank has instructed scheduled banks to operate normally on October 17 to facilitate banking transactions before the extended holiday period.
However, bank branches and sub-branches in seaports, land ports and airports will maintain essential services related to import and export activities during the holidays, in coordination with the relevant authorities.
The directive was issued by Bangladesh Bank’s Supervisory Data Management and Analytics Department.
