Jagannath University (JnU) authorities have tightened security across the campus following recent clashes involving student groups, making valid university ID cards mandatory for entry from Thursday morning.
Outsiders have also been barred from entering the campus.
Security personnel, police, members of the university’s proctorial body, and administrative officials have been deployed at all major gates, where students are being screened before being allowed inside.
Anyone unable to produce a valid university ID card is being denied entry.
According to university sources, the heightened security measures were introduced as a precaution after recent campus violence and in view of programmes announced by several student organisations.
Authorities said the steps are aimed at preventing further unrest and ensuring the safety of students and staff.
Additional patrols have also been deployed across key areas of the campus as the administration continues to closely monitor the security situation.
