The results of this year’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations are expected to be published between November 7 and 15, with preparations already under way, the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee said on Wednesday.
Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman, chairman of the committee and Dhaka Education Board, confirmed the development.
He said work on preparing the results was progressing and they were expected to be published within the proposed timeframe.
The written examinations under the Chattogram Education Board ended later than scheduled due to natural disasters. However, additional examiners have been appointed to speed up the evaluation process, allowing the results to be prepared within the expected deadline, Akhtaruzzaman said.
This year’s HSC and equivalent examinations began on July 2 and ended on August 8. Practical examinations were scheduled to be completed by August 15.
Some written examinations under the Chattogram Board could not be held as scheduled because of natural disasters. The postponed examinations were later held, with the board completing its written tests on September 9.
A total of 1,270,583 students from 9,439 educational institutions under 11 education boards took part in this year’s examinations at 2,697 centres across the country.
Of them, 1,069,714 students appeared under nine general education boards, while 92,905 students took the examinations under the Madrasa Education Board and 107,964 under the Technical Education Board.
The Dhaka Education Board had the highest number of candidates, with 300,393 students sitting for the examinations at 310 centres.
The numbers of candidates under other boards included 140,830 in Rajshahi, 117,210 in Jashore, 113,479 in Dinajpur, 99,688 in Chattogram and 94,802 in Cumilla.
Mymensingh had 73,037 candidates, Sylhet 71,711 and Barishal 58,664.
