Students to receive new textbooks on December 24

Students across Bangladesh will receive their new textbooks for the 2027 academic year on December 24, instead of the traditional January 1 distribution date.

Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon disclosed the plan on Wednesday, saying the government was considering distributing the books ahead of the new academic year.

The date coincides with the publication of annual examination results for primary-level students, according to a report by Jago News.

The early distribution is expected to help students receive their books before the start of the new academic year and allow schools to complete year-end academic activities in time.

The National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) has planned to print more than 309 million textbooks for the 2027 academic year.

The books will be distributed among students at different levels, from pre-primary to secondary education, including those studying at ebtedayee madrasas.

The government is also planning to introduce four new subjects in Classes IV and VI as part of changes to the curriculum.

The textbook distribution plan aims to ensure that students can begin the new academic year with their required books in hand.
