The Election Commission has decided to deploy the armed forces and make maximum use of modern technology in by-elections, as it plans to do in the national election.

Election Commissioner Abul Fazl Md Sanaullah said all local government elections would also be completed by June 6.

He made the remarks while speaking to journalists after an inter-ministerial meeting at the Election Commission headquarters in Agargaon on Thursday.

Sanaullah said the commission was working to arrange the by-elections and local government polls within a tight schedule.

Various examinations will be held across the country in November and December, while January will offer only a limited window before Ramadan and public examinations such as the Secondary School Certificate and Higher Secondary Certificate exams begin.

The commissioner said the commission was assessing how the elections could be organised within the available timeframe.
