DHAKA: A total of 69,252 applications for correction of National Identity Cards (NIDs) are awaiting disposal at the office of AHM Anwar Pasha, director general of the National Identity Registration Wing.
The information was disclosed in a report on pending applications at the director general level prepared by the Election Commission (EC) on Sunday (October 18).
According to the report, 983 applications submitted in 2025 and 68,269 submitted in 2026 remain pending at the DG’s office, bringing the total to 69,252.
Region-wise, Dhaka has 10,615 pending applications, Faridpur 5,140, Khulna 5,871, Mymensingh 8,332 and Rangpur 4,477.
The report also lists 6,469 applications under the category “region name not specified”, 6,875 in Rajshahi, 4,226 in Barishal, 6,688 in Chattogram and 10,559 in Cumilla as pending under the DG category.
According to the latest voter list update, Bangladesh has a total of 12,87,77,643 registered voters.
