The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) has published the circular for the 51st Special BCS Examination 2026, through which 5,000 doctors will be recruited to the BCS (Health) cadre.
Of the posts, 4,700 will be for assistant surgeons and 300 for assistant dental surgeons.
Online applications will open at 10am on October 1 and close at 6pm on October 25, according to the circular published by the PSC on Thursday.
Candidates aged between 21 and 32 as of September 1, 2026, will be eligible to apply. Applications must be submitted through the Teletalk Bangladesh website or the PSC website.
The application fee is Tk200 for general candidates and Tk50 for candidates from ethnic minority communities, persons with disabilities and third-gender applicants. An additional Tk5 will be charged for VAT and data verification.
Candidates who obtain a user ID by the deadline will be allowed to pay the application fee within the following 72 hours.
Applicants who are in the process of completing the required educational qualifications may also apply, provided they complete all written examinations by October 25, 2026. Relevant equivalence certificates for foreign or domestic degrees and necessary documents concerning BMDC registration must be submitted during the viva voce.
Candidates employed by government or autonomous organisations must apply with permission from the appropriate authority.
The selection process will carry 300 marks, with 200 marks for a written MCQ test and 100 marks for the viva voce.
The written test will include 20 marks each for Bangla, English, Bangladesh affairs and international affairs, and 10 marks each for mental ability and mathematical reasoning. Another 100 marks will cover subjects relevant to the respective cadre or post. Each incorrect answer will result in a deduction of 0.50 marks.
The PSC said the written examination is likely to be held by November, mainly in Dhaka.
The circular also warned candidates against malpractice. Lobbying or attempting to influence the recruitment process will be treated as grounds for disqualification. Candidatures may also be cancelled for providing false information, submitting forged certificates or using mobile phones or digital devices for unfair means during the examination.
The PSC said criminal action may also be taken over such irregularities, and offenders could be barred from taking part in future government examinations.
