Legendary Bangladeshi actress Shabnam has said she does not want her body taken to the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (FDC) after her death.
In an interview, Shabnam said she had specifically instructed her son not to take her body to FDC.
She also referred to her late husband, renowned music composer Robin Ghosh, saying his body was not taken there either.
Shabnam, who turned 81 on Monday, August 17, began her acting career in the 1960s and remained a prominent figure in Bangladeshi and Pakistani cinema for decades. Her last film was Kazi Hayat’s Ammajan.
Explaining her estrangement from the film industry, Shabnam said she had witnessed and experienced many things after returning to Bangladesh but did not want to discuss them publicly.
She indicated that her decision regarding FDC stemmed from deep hurt and disappointment.
“I have my reasons,” she said, while declining to elaborate further.
