Popular actress Sharlin Farzana has returned to television drama after a break of more than a year, marking her comeback with a new production titled Neelpori, directed by emerging filmmaker Mashrikul Alam.
Written by Imdad Babu, the drama stars Sharlin opposite popular actor Ziaul Faruq Apurba, with whom she has previously worked in nearly 30 productions.
Sharlin was once a familiar face on television and earned considerable popularity through dramas opposite leading actors including Apurba and Afran Nisho. She has also appeared in films and won appreciation for her performances.
Her last drama before the break was Bhalobasha Bhalo Rakhar Upay, directed by Pathik Sadhan and co-starring Khairul Basar. She has now resumed work with Neelpori, which will be released on CD Choice’s YouTube channel.
Speaking about her return, Sharlin said she was delighted to be back on a drama set, particularly because she was working with Apurba again.
“After taking a break for quite some time, it felt really good to return to acting. Having Apurba bhai as my co-star made the experience even more enjoyable,” she said.
Sharlin praised Apurba as a supportive co-star who helps bring out the best in his fellow actors.
“He is the kind of co-actor who makes acting feel spontaneous when he is around. More importantly, he does not focus only on his own performance. He also pays attention to how his co-actor is doing. Not everyone thinks that way,” she said.
Sharlin also expressed appreciation for director Mashrikul Alam, saying he handled the project with considerable care.
“I really enjoyed working on this drama. The director worked on it very carefully, and I am quite hopeful about the audience’s response,” she said.
Sharlin and Apurba have previously appeared together in several popular dramas, including Bhalobashar Fanush, Shei Cheleta, Na Bola Diary, Bola Holo Na, Ei Rod Ei Brishti and Eka Ei Ami. According to Sharlin, their previous collaborations have generally received a positive response from viewers.
She said she now plans to work regularly in television dramas, although she will remain selective about her projects.
“I want to continue acting regularly, but the story has to appeal to me. I do not want to take on a project simply for the sake of working,” she said.
Sharlin made her film debut in Jago, directed by Khijir Hayat Khan. Years later, she returned to the big screen with Masud Hasan Ujjal’s Unponchash Batash.
Away from acting, Sharlin’s academic journey has also taken an interesting turn. She completed her secondary and higher secondary education at Viqarunnisa Noon School and College. She later enrolled at a medical college to fulfil her parents’ aspirations, but eventually chose to study law because of her strong personal interest in the subject.
With her return to television, Sharlin is now looking forward to reconnecting with audiences and taking on roles that offer her new opportunities as an actor.
