Popular Tollywood actor Kharaj Mukherjee is stranded in Nepal amid devastating floods that have killed at least 165 people in the country’s border areas.
Kharaj is accompanied by his wife, Pratibha Mukherjee, and members of his film crew. They travelled to Nepal on August 20 to shoot for the film Shikaar.
The team was filming in the remote mountainous area of Rasuwa district when heavy rain suddenly began, causing river levels to rise rapidly. Roads and several bridges were swept away, leaving them stranded.
Speaking to Indian media outlet Aajkaal over the phone, Kharaj said they were scheduled to return to Kolkata on August 26, but had been unable to leave because roads were damaged and flights were unavailable.
He said they would try to return home via Gorakhpur on August 28 if the situation improves.
Actress Apu Biswas and actor Rajatava Dutta also travelled to Nepal for the shooting of Shikaar. Kharaj said they are safe.
