Dhallywood actress Apu Biswas has returned to Dhaka after a harrowing experience in Nepal, where she and the crew of her upcoming film Shikar narrowly avoided a major disaster caused by flash floods and landslides.
Apu and the film unit had been shooting in Nepal for several weeks.
On August 26, a devastating natural disaster struck a mountainous area around two to three hours from Kathmandu.
Coincidentally, the team had planned to travel along the same route the following day, August 27.
The one-day difference reportedly helped them avoid the worst of the disaster.
Speaking to reporters after returning to Dhaka on Friday, Apu said the road they were scheduled to use was badly affected and has reportedly been closed to traffic for 15 to 20 days.
Considering the severe situation and the suffering of local people, Apu decided to suspend the film’s shooting.
The entire team subsequently returned home safely.
Apu had earlier reassured fans that the Shikar team was safe in Nepal. She had been in the country since early August for the film’s shooting. Kolkata actor Kharaj Mukherjee was also part of the production and has since returned safely.
The actress described the experience as frightening and thanked everyone who had expressed concern for her safety.
