Hollywood star Jennifer Lawrence is set to star in filmmaker Zach Cregger’s upcoming sci-fi thriller ‘The Flood’, with Warner Bros’ New Line Cinema attached to produce and distribute the film.
Cregger has written the story and screenplay and will direct and produce the project. Based on his original idea, ‘The Flood’ is scheduled to hit theatres on August 11, 2028.
The project was initially being developed for Netflix before moving to New Line earlier this year. It will be Cregger’s follow-up to his successful film ‘Weapons’.
Production is expected to begin in Europe in early 2027.
Cregger will produce the film alongside Amblin Entertainment, with Roy Lee and Miri Yoon of Vertigo Entertainment also serving as producers.
Lawrence’s casting is being viewed as a notable addition to the project. Known for choosing her roles selectively, she was most recently seen in ‘Die My Love’, for which she received a Golden Globe nomination.
