Actor Samu Chowdhury was injured in an alleged attack in front of his house in Jashore on Tuesday. He suffered a head injury and received four stitches at a hospital before returning home after initial treatment.
The incident took place around noon on October 13 in the New Market area of Naldanga Road in Bezpara, the town.
Samu said he was walking past his house when he got into an argument with Jahangir, a mechanic at a nearby motorcycle garage. At one point, garage owner Hridoy and Jahangir allegedly struck him on the head with a brick, leaving him bleeding.
Local residents rescued the actor and took him to Jashore General Hospital for treatment.
Hridoy denied involvement in the attack, saying he was not present at the scene. However, he said Jahangir had told him over the phone that he attacked Samu after the actor allegedly abused his mother and sister.
Cultural figures and local residents condemned the incident and called for a fair investigation and legal action against those responsible.
Faruk Hossain, officer-in-charge of Jashore Kotwali Police Station, said a police team had been sent to the scene. Police were conducting operations to detain those involved, and legal action would be taken following an investigation.
