Vijaya Dashami, the final day of the six-day Durga Puja festival, is being celebrated across Bangladesh today, Wednesday, with devotees preparing to bid farewell to Goddess Durga through traditional idol immersion ceremonies.
The festival, which began on October 16 with Shashthi Puja, concludes with the immersion of idols, marking the end of the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community.
In Dhaka, a procession is scheduled to leave Dhakeshwari National Temple and proceed through several city streets before ending at Sadarghat.
Authorities have urged organisers to complete the immersion rituals before evening, citing security concerns.
Durga Puja is not only a major religious celebration but also an important part of Bangladesh’s cultural heritage, reflecting communal harmony and peaceful coexistence among people of different faiths.
