Saudi authorities have launched a new digital service at the Grand Mosque (Masjid al-Haram) in Makkah to help Hajj and Umrah pilgrims monitor crowd levels in real time while performing Tawaf and Sa’i.
According to the General Authority for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, the QR code-based service provides live crowd updates for the Mataf area, where pilgrims perform Tawaf around the Holy Kaaba, and the Mas’a, the route between Safa and Marwah used for Sa’i, Gulf News reported.
The service also offers real-time updates and smart guidance to help manage crowds and improve the safety and ease of movement within the mosque.
Authorities said users can scan the QR code to access the latest information at any time, allowing them to choose less crowded routes or times to perform Tawaf and Sa’i more comfortably.
The initiative is expected to improve crowd management and ensure smoother, safer and more efficient movement for worshippers at the Grand Mosque.
