President releases 400kg fish fry into Bangabhaban pond

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday released 400kg of carp fry into the Lion Pond at Bangabhaban as part of a government fish-stocking programme.

The programme was organised by the Department of Fisheries under the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock with the theme “A self-reliant country through silver fish, Bangladesh first”.

The president released 160kg of rohu, 120kg of catla, 80kg of mrigal and 40kg of kalibaus fry into the pond, according to a press release from the President’s Office.

The president’s military secretary, secretary of the Public Division, press secretary, secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, director general of the Department of Fisheries and senior officials from Bangabhaban and the ministry were present.

After the fish were released, the pesh imam of Bangabhaban Jame Mosque led a doa seeking the progress, prosperity and wellbeing of the country and its people.
