Pakistan on Tuesday successfully test-fired an extended-range version of its indigenously developed Fatah-IV ground-launched cruise missile, the military’s media wing said.

In a statement, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the missile was equipped with advanced avionics and state-of-the-art navigation systems, enabling it to engage targets at extended ranges with what it described as high precision and lethality.

“The test also validated additional technical parameters of various sub-systems incorporated for improved accuracy and enhanced survivability,” the statement said.

Senior Pakistan Army officers, along with scientists and engineers from the developing agency, witnessed the test, according to ISPR.

President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and the chiefs of the three services congratulated those involved in the test, ISPR said.

They also praised the technical expertise, dedication and commitment of the scientists and engineers who contributed to the development of the system.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also congratulated the nation on the successful test, according to a statement from his ministry.

“The successful test of the extended version of Fatah-IV cruise missile is an important advancement in the defence sector,” Naqvi said, congratulating the scientists and engineers involved and praising their efforts.

The latest test follows a series of missile tests by Pakistan in recent months.

In May, the Army Rocket Force Command successfully test-fired the Fatah-IV ground-launched cruise missile. A month earlier, the command conducted a training launch of the Fateh-II missile system, while the Pakistan Navy successfully test-fired a locally developed anti-ship ballistic missile against targets at an extended range.

In September 2025, the Pakistan Army conducted a training launch of the Fatah-IV cruise missile at a range of 750 kilometres.
