The government has given in-principle approval to a proposal to have an international terminal operator run Chattogram Port’s New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT) for 15 years.
The approval was given at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Thursday (October 1) under a public-private partnership (PPP) project titled “Operation and Maintenance of CPA’s New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT) including Overflow Yard (OCY).”
The Ministry of Shipping placed a draft concession agreement before the committee for operating the NCT through an international terminal operator for 15 years.
The New Mooring Container Terminal is one of Chattogram Port’s key container-handling facilities. Under the proposed agreement, responsibility for operating and maintaining the terminal will be handed over to an international operator.
