A police academy will be established in Chattogram’s Jungle Salimpur area, following the model of the Police Academy at Sarda in Rajshahi, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said.
The academy will be built on around 300 acres of land as part of the government’s plan to restore law and order and establish effective governance in the area, the minister said on Thursday.
He added that the government also plans to relocate Chattogram Central Jail to Jungle Salimpur, with 72 acres of land already acquired beside the Bayezid Link Road for the project.
The government is taking steps to recover public land, rehabilitate illegal settlers and strengthen the permanent presence of law enforcement agencies in the area, Salahuddin said.
He said the authorities were working in a coordinated manner to bring Jungle Salimpur under effective administration and eliminate criminal activities.
