Ad-din Medical College Hospital in the capital’s Moghbazar resumed operations on Tuesday after remaining closed for nearly one and a half months, with hundreds of patients returning on the very first day, reflecting continued public confidence in the hospital’s affordable healthcare services.

Despite the prolonged suspension of services, the reopening attracted patients not only from different parts of Dhaka but also from distant districts, including Noakhali and Shariatpur. Many visitors expressed satisfaction at being able to receive treatment again, describing the hospital as one of the country’s most affordable and dependable healthcare providers.

A visit to the hospital on Tuesday showed a steady flow of patients entering and leaving the facility throughout the day. Registration counters remained busy as people purchased outpatient tickets before consulting physicians. Hospital staff were seen assisting patients courteously, while cleaning personnel regularly disinfected and mopped hospital floors to maintain hygiene standards.

Hospital authorities said 607 patients received treatment at the outpatient department between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on the reopening day, indicating strong demand for medical services immediately after operations resumed.

Patients interviewed at the hospital said the temporary closure had not diminished their trust in the institution.

Suma, a resident of Rampura in Dhaka, said she had previously delivered her first child at the hospital and had returned for a routine check-up during her second pregnancy.

“I had my first delivery here and now I am expecting my second child in a few months. I came for a check-up because the hospital provides quality treatment at a very affordable cost. That is why I keep coming back,” she said, adding that she had no complaints about the hospital’s services.

Among those arriving from outside the capital was expatriate Arshad, who traveled from Noakhali with his wife to seek medical care.

He said they had come to Dhaka a day before the reopening specifically to receive treatment at Ad-din Medical College Hospital.

“The hospital offers excellent treatment at a low cost, something we have not found elsewhere. My sister also received treatment here, and we have always been satisfied with the quality of care,” he said.

Hospital corridors remained crowded throughout the day as patients waited for consultations, diagnostic tests and follow-up appointments. The orderly environment and efficient patient management contributed to a smooth reopening after the extended closure.

Healthcare workers welcomed patients warmly and appeared focused on restoring normal operations as quickly as possible. Regular cleaning activities were also visible across the premises, reinforcing the hospital’s emphasis on maintaining a safe and hygienic environment.

The strong turnout on the first day suggests that the hospital continues to enjoy widespread public confidence, particularly among middle- and lower-income families seeking affordable medical treatment.

Patients and their attendants expressed hope that services would now continue uninterrupted, allowing thousands of people who rely on the hospital for maternity care, specialist consultations and general medical treatment to access healthcare without further disruption.

The reopening of Ad-din Medical College Hospital is expected to ease pressure on other healthcare facilities in the capital while restoring an important source of affordable medical services for patients from Dhaka and across the country.
