Four more children die with measles symptoms

Four more children have died with measles symptoms in the past 24 hours, while another 1,097 children have developed measles or symptoms of the disease, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In its regular measles report issued on Wednesday, the DGHS said three of the latest deaths occurred in Dhaka Division and one in Mymensingh Division.

With the latest fatalities, the nationwide death toll from measles and measles-like symptoms has reached 983 since March 15. Of them, 884 died with measles symptoms and 99 after being diagnosed with measles.

In the past 24 hours, 63 new measles cases were confirmed across the country, while another 1,034 children developed symptoms of the disease.

Since March 15, a total of 160,184 children have developed measles symptoms, while 19,447 have been diagnosed with measles.

According to the DGHS report, 140,472 children have been hospitalised across the country with measles or measles-like symptoms since March 15. Of them, 135,417 have recovered and been discharged from hospitals so far.
