Dengue kills five more, 1,484 hospitalized

Five more people have died from dengue in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, while 1,484 new patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The information was released in the DGHS’s regular dengue bulletin issued by its Health Emergency Operations Centre and Control Room on Thursday.

Of the newly hospitalised patients, 211 were admitted in Barishal Division, 192 in Chattogram Division, 190 in Dhaka Division outside the city corporations, 207 in Dhaka North City Corporation and 227 in Dhaka South City Corporation.

Another 252 patients were admitted in Khulna Division, 64 in Mymensingh, 102 in Rajshahi, 35 in Rangpur and four in Sylhet.

With the latest deaths, the number of dengue fatalities in Bangladesh this year has risen to 176, the DGHS said.
