Seventeen people died across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours from measles symptoms and dengue, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The DGHS said 11 people died with measles symptoms during the period, while six others died of dengue.
In a separate measles update issued on Wednesday, the DGHS said 975 children had died with measles symptoms between March 15 and September 23. Another 101 people died from laboratory-confirmed measles during the same period.
A total of 1,157 people were identified with measles symptoms in the past 24 hours, while 113 were confirmed to have measles. Since March 15, 183,449 people have been identified with measles symptoms and 20,851 confirmed cases have been recorded.
During the period, 162,048 patients with measles symptoms were hospitalised, while 155,612 recovered and were discharged.
Meanwhile, six more people died of dengue in the past 24 hours, taking the country’s dengue death toll this year to 201.
Another 1,868 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals during the period.
As of September 23, a total of 67,367 dengue patients had been hospitalised nationwide this year. Of them, 62,117 have recovered and been discharged, while 1,557 remain hospitalised.
