Three more children died with measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours until 8:00am on Monday, raising the combined number of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths in Bangladesh to 1,128 this year.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) classified all three latest deaths as suspected measles fatalities. No confirmed measles-related deaths were reported during the period.
The number of suspected measles deaths has now reached 1,026, while confirmed deaths remain at 102.
The DGHS reported 1,296 new suspected measles cases during the 24-hour period, taking the cumulative number of suspected cases nationwide to 197,722.
Another 60 laboratory-confirmed cases were recorded, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 21,808.
Since March 15 this year, a total of 175,336 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalised across the country. Of them, 168,142 have recovered, according to the DGHS.
